The rumored claim that Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox console will require an Internet connection to start games or apps has been backed up with new sources.
According to Kotaku sources next-gen Xbox will be an always-online system, “Unless something has changed recently, Durango consumer units must have an active internet connection to be used.”
“If there isn’t a connection, no games or apps can be started, if the connection is interrupted then after a period of time–currently three minutes, if I remember correctly–the game/app is suspended and the network troubleshooter started.”
However, other sources familiar with the new console have said they are unaware of plans for an online requirement by Microsoft.
According to Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida, PS4 will not require an Internet connection.
Microsoft is rumored to reveal the next Xbox at a special event in late April.

You know I always love these posts. They are always for trying to make Sony look better. That is why the last statement was in bold. Recently Microsoft has stated they do no respond to rumors and this was in regarding the always online requirement. That to me is stating that its a rumor. I will not be buying a PS4. I had no interest in the PS3.
Isn't that a rather biased opinion? I mean, why wouldn't you be interested in ps3 rather than xbox360. I'm not saying it's superior but what i am saying that there is just as much a reason not to buy xbox than ps3.
Not to mention, Microsoft has confirmed always online themselves. And it makes then look bad already. They did it themselves. 1 line of text doesn't change the fact that always online they are going for always online which is a extremely bad move. They didn't respond to rumors but this is not a rumor anymore, they have confirmed it themselves and they even said ''deal with it.'' when people were ouraged.
Sorry to say but microsoft is making itself look bad.
also:
“Sorry, I don’t get the drama around having an ‘always on’ console,” Orth Tweeted. “Every device now is ‘always on’. That’s the world we live in. #dealwithit.”
straight quote from that dude.
