Epic is set to preview next-gen tech Unreal Engine 4 at GDC next week.

It announced today when lining up its plans for the event. Only “select licensees, partners and prospective customers” will get a glimpse of the new engine though, with the the presentation being held behind closed doors, with NDA’s required to be signed before seeing it.

In addition, Epic Games Design Director Cliff Bleszinski is set to host the Game Developer Choice Awards, and a dozen senior members of Epic’s staff are scheduled to speak at the conference.

Epic’s also named some of the panels it’ll be involved with, including Tim Sweeney, CliffBleszinski, Rod Fergusson, Chair’s Simon Hurley and others.

It’s been eight years since the third major iteration of the technology was revealed to the world and we were always expecting to see it soon. The engines been in development since 2003 although it’s unlikely to be seen on consoles until 2014, according to CEO Tim Sweeney.

Studio design director Bleszinski will present the 12th Game Developers Choice Awards on March 7.
