The live-action movie adaptation of the popular and acclaimed video game series, Uncharted stars Tom Holland as Nathan “Nate” Drake, and Mark Wahlberg as his mentor Victor “Sully” Sullivan, along with Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer, Tati Gabrielle as Braddock, and Antonio Banderas as the film’s antagonist.
Synopsis:
“Based on one of the best-selling, most critically acclaimed video game series of all time, Uncharted introduces audiences to the young street-smart Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) and showcases his first treasure hunting adventure with wisecracking partner Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg).
In an action-adventure epic that spans the globe, the two go in dangerous pursuit of “the greatest treasure never found” while also tracking clues that may lead to Nathan’s long-lost brother.”
Uncharted serves as an origin story and prequel to the video game series by Naughty Dog, that makes sense since Nathan Drake in the video games is in his mid 30’s.
The film entered development in 2008 with Avi Arad working with Sony to develop a film adaptation of Uncharted, soon after the film entered a complicated production process with changes in various directors, writers, and cast members with several filmmakers like David O. Russell, Neil Burger, Seth Gordon, Shawn Levy, Dan Trachtenberg, and Travis Knight were initially signed to direct.
Holland was cast to portray the protagonist in 2017 and Principal photography began in March and concluded in October 2020.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer and screenplay by Rafe Judkins, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway.
Uncharted is scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 18, 2022, in IMAX 3D, RealD 3D, and Dolby Cinema.
