Ubisoft Montreal, the developers of Far Cry 3 is feeling confident about its upcoming open-world shooter, despite the fact it is due to launch after Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Halo 4 and Call of DutyBlack Ops 2.

Far Cry 3 was set to launch in early September, but Ubisoft announced the delay in June and pushed it back to November 30.

Speaking with MCV, Ubisoft brand manager Henri Guay said, “Far Cry has always been a little bit off the map in terms of the offer that it gives,” Guay stated, “People are going to continue to play Call of Duty and people are going to look for experiences that give them something a little bit different. We feel we’re in a comfortable spot.”

Guay added, “I think we’re in a lucky situation where Ubisoft, through all levels of the organisation, was ready to make a commitment to the brand. To have the support at an organisation level to say we’re committed was great.”

Product manager Dan Hay adds that delaying the game was the right decision to ensure the title lives up to fan expectations. “Far Cry 3 is a big game and there’s an expectation. We wanted to make it as great as it absolutely can be,” he said. “There were a couple of things we were talking about cutting from the game that I just couldn’t bear to take away from the consumer. So the reality is that we have made a very strategic choice.”

Far Cry 3 will be out on November 30 for PS3, 360 and PC.
