Production on Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer‘s upcoming American action adventure film, Tomb Raider is finally underway and we’ve got the first photos from the set.

The reboot will tell the story of “a young and untested Croft fighting to survive her first adventure.”
MGM and Warner Bros are co-producing the film. They acquired the rights from GK Films which had previously purchased the film rights in 2011 from Square Enix Ltd.
Paramount Pictures acquired the film rights for Tomb Raider in 1998, which was released as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in 2001 & Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life in 2003, starring Angelina Jolie. It grossed a combined $450 million at worldwide box office.
Principal photography on the film began on January 23, 2017.
The film is based on the 2013 video game of same name by Crystal Dynamics.
It stars Alicia Vikander, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu, and Dominic West.
Directed by Roar Uthaug and written by Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, Marti Noxon, Evan Daugherty, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
Tomb Raider will hit theaters on March 16, 2018.
