Uncharted movie will be a prequel to the video game series, focused on the young thief, Nathan Drake – taking its inspiration from Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception sequence, where Drake first encounters the professional rogue, Victor Sullivan.

The decision on casting Tom Holland was done after Sony Pictures chief, Tom Rothman saw the latest cut of Spider-Man: Homecoming, according to the outlet’s sources.

Back in January, Joe Carnahan announced that the script of the film had been completed, but now the studio is planning to take the movie in a different direction.

They are planning to kick off the Uncharted franchise with Holland and that means a new screenwriter will be hired to pen the script that will follow young Nathan Drake.

Previous drafts of the script were written by Mark Boal, David O. Russell, Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, David Guggenheim, Marianne and Cormac Wibberley.

Uncharted will be produced by Avi Arad under Atlas Entertainment Production banner with Charles Roven, and Alex Gartner.

Filming was expected to begin in late spring of 2017, but now that might be delayed, we will keep you updated if they announce the new filming date.
