Screen Gems’ The Last of Us Movie story will be an adaptation of Naughty Dog’s action-adventure survival horror game, according to the game’s creative director, Neil Druckmann.
Speaking with IGN during BAFTA Game Awards 2014, Druckmann said, “It’s an adaptation of the story of The Last of Us.
As far as where we go and how we make it fit into a film, how it takes into account the unique properties of film… We’re not sure yet. We’re only just scratching the surface.”
Neil Druckmann will write the script for the live-action adaptation, Naughty Dog’s Evan Wells, Christophe Balestra, and Bruce Straley will team up with Sam Raimi and his Ghost House Pictures to craft the movie.
The Last of Us released worldwide exclusively for PlayStation 3 on June 14, 2013. It sold 3.4 million copies worldwide in three weeks, making it the fastest-selling PS3 game of 2013 prior to the release of Grand Theft Auto V.
