Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures & Marvel Studios‘ superhero film, Thor: Ragnarok is now the fourth biggest domestic opening of 2017 with over $120 million gross from 4,080 theaters.
Thor: Ragnarok is also the 17th consecutive No. 1 Marvel Cinematic Universe debut out of 17 films and 8th movie with over $100 opening.
The sequel earned “A” CinemaScore, opening weekend audiences were 56% male vs. 44% female, with 63% were over the age of 25.
The film grossed $121 million in the United States and Canada, with $306 million gross from other territories, for a worldwide total of $427 million against a production budget of $180 million.
Settling in the second, STX Entertainment’s A Bad Moms Christmas has grossed $21.5 million domestically and $6.7 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $28.2 million, against a production budget of $28 million
In third spot, Lionsgate‘s Jigsaw grossed $28.8 million domestically, and $11.1 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $39.9 million, against a production budget of $10 million.
Taking the fourth spot, Lionsgate‘s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween made $42 million domestically and $382,583 in other territories, for a worldwide total of $43 million.
And rounding off at fifth spot, Warner Bros. Pictures’ Geostorm, which has grossed $28.8 million in the United States and Canada, and $153.6 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $182.4 million, against a production budget of $120 million.
