Naughty Dog’s upcoming action-adventure survival horror game, The Last of Us Part II story features Ellie as the main character and it will focus on hatred.
The Last of Us focused on the love and bond between Ellie and Joel and in Part 2 it will be complete opposite and the storyline will be complementary to the first game and both the games will tell a much larger tale.
During PlayStation Experience 2016 panel, Creative director Neil Druckmann described The Last of Us Part II story as being the counter of The Last of Us:
“If the first game, the core, the theme was about the love between these two characters and how we build that through story, music, interaction, gameplay mechanics, this story is the counter of that.
This story is about hate, and how we use all of those same things to make the player feel that through Ellie this time. First game you play as Joel, this game you’re playing as Ellie.”

The Last of Us Part II takes place five years after the events of the first game, Ellie is now 19 years old.
In the game, you’ll play as Ellie and she plays different from Joel but Druckmann didn’t go into details.
There will be things in the sequel that are evolutions, while others will be reinventions.
The sequel announcement was originally planned to be shown at E3 2017, but the team wanted to show fans that they have planned for the sequel.
The Last of Us Part II is currently in early development for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.
