Naughty Dog’s survival action-adventure, The Last of Us European (PAL) version is censored.

The US version of the game’s multiplayer features dismemberment on survivors, exploding heads and more, but the European version does not.

The Last of Us

Immediately after the game’s launch Ramify posted on ND forums about the differences in multiplayer and then after few weeks community manager EvangM answered him via private message and said:

“The gore and violence ratings are subject to local regulatory boards in various countries, so the game must be slightly changed in order to accommodate those choices.

To be honest, I’m not sure what version Australia is getting. If you import the North/South American version, It will not be censored, but EU/UK will be.”

Although, single-player campaign is uncut and uncensored in all territories. Censorship doesn’t affect your multiplayer gameplay.

You can buy US version of the game at Amazon here, PlayStation 3 games are region free, so will work on PAL consoles.
