After rumors of Channing Tatum dropping out of 20th Century Fox’s Gambit. Today, THR reports that American actor, film producer, Channing Tatum has finally locked in the deal to lead X-Men spinoff, Gambit.

According to the report, The negotiations between the studio and Tatum did hit a “sensitive spot”, but his involvement in the movie was hardly in any danger because he had invested a lot of time to play the fictional superhero.

The studio wants Tatum for multi-picture deal but for now Tatum has only signed up for the first movie, the multi-picture deal wasn’t disclosed.

We will probably see him committing more than a decade for this role, just like how Australian actor and producer, Hugh Jackman appeared as Wolverine from the first installment in the X-Men film series, X-Men (2000) to the seventh installment of the X-Men film series, X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) with roles ranging from being the lead character to just a quick cameo.

Gambit, a fictional superhero appears in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, commonly in association with the X-Men. The character was created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Jim Lee. Drawn by artist Mike Collins.

Channing Matthew Tatum is popularly known for his roles in Step Up, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Magic Mike, Magic Mike XXL, 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street.

The film will be directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) from a screenplay by Joshua Zetumer (RoboCop). Tatum, Reid Carolin, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg will serve as the producers.

Gambit is set for a October 7, 2016 release. After Deadpool on February 15, 2016 and X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27, 2016.
