New Zealand film director, writer, comedian, and actor, Taika Waititi is in negotiations to direct Thor: Ragnarok.
According to The Wrap’s sources, Taika Waititi will direct Marvel’s upcoming American superhero film, Thor: Ragnarok.
Waititi beat out American film director, film producer, and television producer, Ruben Fleischer for Thor: Ragnarok gig, with other finalists – American writer, director of films & commercials, Rawson Marshall Thurber and American film director, Rob Letterman.
Waititi is best known for his 2004 short film, Two Cars, One Night & 2010’s New Zealand coming-of-age comedy-drama film, Boy.
His recent gigs include New Zealand television comedy series Super City & New Zealand-based vampire comedy mockumentary, What We Do in the Shadows with friend and fellow comedian Jemaine Clement.
Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston & Jaimie Alexander are set to reprise their roles as Thor, Loki & Lady Sif.
Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost will write the screenplay for a third film, with Kevin Feige again producing.
Thor: Ragnarok Filming is expected to begin in June 2016 for a November 3, 2017 release.
