Lucasfilm’s American epic space opera film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens just hit theaters last week and the team is already gearing up for next in Disney’s Star Wars sequel trilogy.
John Boyega (Finn) is doing rounds making surprise appearances at screenings of The Force Awakens, but during his visit to Brixton, South London, United Kingdom, he told fans that the filming for the next in the trilogy will start in few weeks.
He appeared as end credits started to roll at the Ritzy Cinema in Brixton, he asked “It’s an alright film, innit?”
“I have been doing some pop-ups at several different cinemas all over London and I definitely had to come to Brixton since I’m from down the road in Peckham, he added.
“So I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for coming out and supporting this movie.
The movie is yours now and I really hope you enjoyed it and we are so happy to be starting on Episode Eight in a few weeks in London and it is going to be fun.
May the force be with you always,” Boyega concluded.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens has grossed grossed over $363.4 million in North America and $402 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $765.8 million, against a budget of $200 million, as of December 23, 2015.
Episode VIII’s filming is scheduled to begin in January 2016, it will be directed & written by Rian Johnson.
Kathleen Kennedy, Ram Bergman, Lawrence Kasdan, Simon Kinberg will serve as producers, JJ Abrams as executive producer.
Mark Hamill, Oscar Isaac, Gwendoline Christie, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Carrie Fisher and Daisy Ridley will reprise their roles.
Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters on December 16, 2017.
