Sony has sold Sony Online Entertainment to Columbus Nova, an investment management firm based in New York and renamed it Daybreak Game Company.

Sony Online Entertainment best known for creating massively multiplayer online games including EverQuest, PlanetSide 2, DC Universe Online, H1Z1, Landmark and the highly-anticipated EverQuest Next.

After the completion of the transaction, SOE will operate as an independent game development studio and “continue to focus on creating quality online games, providing excellent service to its extensive player base, while centering on its untapped potential as a multi-platform online gaming company.

Along with the transaction, SOE will be rebranded and operate under the new name of Daybreak Game Company (DaybreakGameCompany.com)”

The studio will operate as an independent game development studio, it will continue to work on MMO games and since it no longer part of Sony, the studio will now release multi-platform games on other platforms, such as Xbox, mobile and more!!
