Marvel Studios’ much-anticipated sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron filming is underway in Johannesburg, South Africa and Elizabeth Olsen has talked about her Scarlet Witch costume in a recent issue of Total Film.
Speaking with Total Film, Olsen was asked if she would wear the same costume her character does in the comics, she replied: “We’ve done some costume stuff, yeah!
My favorite piece is my secrecy cloak that prevents anyone from seeing what I’m wearing. There’s a hood, and a robe – it protects the image!”
She adds, “I don’t think Joss ever would have hired me, honestly, if he wanted me to wear those outfits. I’m not a professional athlete and nor am I a model.
Wearing those costumes wouldn’t be fun for anyone who wasn’t those things. He already had a different idea. It respects and involves the comic book character, but it’s different. More rooted.
It’s for someone today… If someone walked around wearing what she wore in the comics, people would stop and say, ‘What the hell… she thinks she’s a superhero!'”
The film features an ensemble cast that includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, James Spader and Paul Bettany.
Avengers: Age Of Ultron is scheduled for release on May 1, 2015.
