An industry source claims that “Sony is planning to start manufacturing the next Playstation console for a planned release in 2012.

That’s according to a new Digi Times Report, which even more surprisingly claims New console will offer Kinect-like motion controller and is going to be developed in a cooperation with Sony’s Taiwan-based partners, Foxconn and Pegatron Technology.

Foxconn and Pegatron Technology were assemblers of PS3 and will undertake assembly of PS4 console as well. The planned shipment volume of PS4 in 2012 is at least 20 million units, and that Sony plans to ship at least 20 million systems next year.

I had earlied reported that “Sony’s Playstation 4 in 2012?”  Prior to that, a similar Rumor about Microsoft’s new Xbox in 2012

If that’s true, that would mean that Sony believes that Microsoft’s approach to motion sensing controllers is one that should be embraced rather that Nintendo’s approach with its tablet-like Wii U controller.

What do you think? Are you ready for a new PlayStation console? Do you think adding motion controls would make it the ultimate system, or is it too late?
