Google hasn’t revealed much of information about their next Android plans at Mobile WorldCongress. However, a Google Executive shared few details about their plans for next Android.

According to the Exec, the next Android version will be 5.0, and it is expected to release late Summer. There is no change that Google a’int going to change keeping a “dessert’s” name on the landmark of Android, yes this one here too got it’s name of a popular dessert “Jelly Bean”. It is also planned to hit Tablet computing first and later to handhelds.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is being made available for selected devices, did we really expect Jelly Bean to be here by Summer? Hiroshi Lockheimer, vice president of engineering for mobile at Google stated that a fall release is more likely.

After Android 4 comes 5, and we haven’t announced the timing yet, which we’re still sorting out,” Lockheimer said. “There’s a lot of engineering work behind it, and there’s also just the question of how to time it.”

Lockheimer added, “In general, the Android release cadence is one major release a year with some maintenance releases that are substantial still.”
