According to a recent rumor, Assasssin’s Creed III may be heading to a setting in the war of words and politics waged during the American Revolution.

A rumor circulating by a Ubisoft insider that is “close to the project” who passed on the information to CVG. The world of political intrigue and shadowy assasinations on hand for Assassin’s Creed III is apparently none other than the American Revolution.

Ubisoft will reveal the next game at some point before the end of Ubisoft’s fiscal year on March 31. The source also pointed towards hints found in previous Assassin’s Creed games including,

  • Brotherhood’s Da Vinci Disappearance DLC provided coordinated bit by bit that eventually led to New York.
  • Assassin’s Creed Revelations ending displayed a globe (pictured above) highlights US, which holds one of the Apples of Eden.
  • A Ubisoft survey last year asked fans to choose where they’d like to see Assassin’s Creed head to next.  The options included “The confrontation between British colonists and native Americans during The American Revolution.”

CVG points out, the setting could open up all kinds of historical crossover possibilities for the series, including encounters with George Washington, who according to Assassin’s Creed lore is in possession of an Apple of Eden.
