Capcom is working on remake for their 1998 survival horror video game, Resident Evil 2 – originally released for the PlayStation (PS1) and it will be built from the ground up.

In Capcom’s latest investor report, Resident Evil 2 project was green-lit as a “remaster” and Capcom UK’s senior marketing director, Stuart Turner confirms that it was a mistranslation, the game won’t be a remaster.

“Seems to be a few people picking up a mistranslation in our own investor report.

RE2 will be a full from the ground up remake NOT a remaster,” Turner tweeted.

Capcom announced RE2 Remake in August, “We’re pleased to confirm that Resident Evil 2 has been approved for development.

As the title is only just starting its development cycle we unfortunately don’t have any additional information or assets to share at this time.

However, for now we want our fans to know that we appreciate all the feedback and support we’ve received on this title.

We’re looking forward to delivering this highly anticipated Resident Evil experience that fans have been waiting for,” a Capcom representative said in a statement in August 2015.

A release date & platforms is yet to be announced, but we can expect it to hit PC, PS4 and Xbox one.
