Sony is indeed set to unveil their next-gen console during a February 20th PlayStation Meeting, according to a report.

The Wall Street Journal reports that “people familiar with the matter have said the new device will make its debut there.”

Sony PS4

Sony’s next-gen console will be released before the end of 2013, and it’ll compete with Microsoft’s next Xbox, which also debuts during holiday season 2013.

The report also suggests that PS4 will incorporate social gaming aspects and also improve user experience instead of just beefing up the hardware.

The source states that PS4 will use AMD chip, the chip is separate from the ones on PS3, known as the Cell chip.

“This would both introduce compatibility concerns with existing games, built to run on the Cell chip, while also ending a long-running partnership with Nvidia, which supplies graphics chips for the PlayStation 3.”
