He explains the suits are an extension of the character themes, “The show was about kids coming of age, about metamorphosis.
These suits needed to feel like they were catalyzed by these kids and their energy, their spirit,” Israelite told EW.
Production designer Andrew Menzies confirms that the costume is indeed alien in nature, “It’s tricky finding a new language for a superhero costume.
Ours is an alien costume that grows on them, that’s not man-made. You can’t win everyone over, but we are trying to appeal to a more mature audience and gain new fans.”
The cast features Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G as Trini the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack the Black Ranger, and Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa.
Directed by Dean Israelite, based on the TV series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers .
Written by John Gatins, Burk Sharpless, Matt Sazama, Zack Stentz, Ashley Miller and Max Landis.
Production handled by Power Rangers creator Haim Saban, Brian Casentini, Wyck Godfrey, and Marty Bowen.
