SCEE Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that PlayStation 4 will support 4k resolution.

PS4 supports playback of 4K pre-recorded video which requires a big amount of storage space or bandwidth and an expensive 4K television, but it doesn’t support 4k res for games; instead it will be rendered at 1080p.

It was rumored back in 2012 that 4k resolution will be included in Sony’s PlayStation 4.  4k technology TVs displays at 3840 × 2160 resolution – four times bigger than 1080p.

PlayStation 4 is set for aholiday 2013 release. More news related to PS4 here.
