Sony’s PlayStation 4 console sales have surpassed 18.5 million units worldwide, the firm announced.

During the holiday shopping season 4.1 million consoles were sold, brining up the total sell-through to 18.5 million as of January 4, 2015. Software sales surged past 81.8 million copies across retail and digital, including 17.8 million copies.

Additionally, PlayStation Plus subscriptions have passed the 10.9 million mark as of January 2, 2015.

We will continue to reinforce and deliver additional value on PS4 as the best place to play, by bringing even more exciting content and by enriching our wide array of service offerings.”

Sony highlighted the upcoming release slate for PS4, which includes: Street Fighter 5, Final Fantasy 15, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, The Tomorrow Children, The Order: 1886 and Bloodborne, along with various indie titles.

PlayStation 4 launched on November 15, 2013 in North America, it is currently available in 123 countries. The console remains the fastest selling console in PlayStation history.
