Nvidia unveiled its most advanced mobile processor Tegra K1 at CES today, it features the same high-performance, power-efficient NVIDIA Kepler-based GPU that drives the world’s most powerful supercomputers and PC gaming systems.

“Nvidia Tegra K1 is Impossibly Advanced, bringing the same NVIDIA Kepler architecture that drives the world’s most extreme gaming PCs to mobile gaming.

For the first time ever, EPIC’s Unreal Engine 4 is running on a mobile platform, the new NVIDIA Tegra K1.

This is the first-ever console-class mobile technology, enabling PC-class gaming technologies like DirectX 11, OpenGL 4.4 and tessellation — all in the palm of your hands.”

Nvidia CEO and co-founder Jen-Hsun Huang took the stage during CES and gave out some details about their next mobile GPU, Tegra K1.

Tegra K1 features NVIDIA Kepler GPU with 192 NVIDIA CUDA cores which are “all fully programmable, all massively parallel. It is more powerful than PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 while using a fraction of the wattage,” said Huang.

He adds, “We’ve brought mobile computing to the same level as desktop computing. We’ve brought mobile computing to the same level as super computing. We’ve brought the heart of GeForce and the soul of Tesla to the Tegra family.”

Tegra K1 supports DirectX 11, OpenGL 4.4 technologies and Epic’s Unreal Engine 4, making it most powerful mobile processor.

“We can take absolutely anything that runs on PC or high-end console and run it on Tegra. I didn’t think that we’d be at this level on mobile for another 3-4 years.” said Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney in a statement.
