Assassin’s Creed III mission director Philippe Bergeron confirmed that there will be no tower defense mini-games in ACIII during a video interview with Joystiq.
Philippe Bergeron also discussed other features saying, Assassin’s Creed III will feature two distinct type of play, one involving “lot of explosions” which’ll be more sequence based and the other will be free-flowing in nature, allowing gamers to choose their own path.

Well this is actually expected if you take into consideration the Era AC III is set, The introduction of the Homestead and Naval Combat.. Towers at this period of time were either redundent or replaced with by full strong pallisade forts and footholds. Its nice to see ACIII has come out and out with fresh content and seperating the franchises keeping the same story line but giving unique gameplay to each..

Introducing Lifts for rapid Accents and use of cannons. Introduced Recruiting Assassins, Buying Property and Stealing Territory.
Ezio/Altair Old – Renaissance Era (Constantinople) – Modern Day Turkey. Introduction of the hook blade and use of specialised bombs, Tower Assault & Tower Defence
