The 2015’s American disaster film, San Andreas is getting a sequel. Dwayne Johnson & New Line Cinema are developing the follow up, according to THR.
The film will be written by Neil Widener and Gavin James, they take over for Carlton Cuse, Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore, who penned the script to the first film.
Most of the cast and crew will return for the second installment. It will be directed by Brad Peyton and produced by Beau Flynn.
San Andreas 2 will reportedly focus on the Ring of Fire (an area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur).
San Andreas grossed over $155 million in North America and $318.5 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $473.6 million. It became the highest-grossing Warner Bros. film of 2015, and the fourteenth highest-grossing film worldwide overall.
