Naughty Dog’s survival horror action-adventure game, The Last Of Us has many secrets, but one of them won’t be there for much longer.
As reported by Kotaku, the ‘pest control’ numbers (image below) on a notice board are actual phone-sex hotlines (please don’t try those numbers).
Creative director Neil Druckmann told Kotaku, “That was an artist’s mistake. What happened was, they put some phone numbers in the game and then they thought they could just change the area code to 555, then it’s invalid because it’s what they do in movies.
But I guess that doesn’t work when you have a 1-800 in front of it. We’re now working to take it out. It was just an honest mistake.”
I guess this will be fixed in an upcoming patch.

i can’t beleve people actualy pay attention to these stuff, just play the damn game! Who in this world buys a game to find out mistakes, “The Last of Us” is an awsome game, just sit back and enjoy it
I’m sure they weren’t intentionally looking for mistakes in the game.. they probably just came across it and thought “hey a phone number.. I’ll call it and see what happens.” I’m sure people don’t waste $60 on a game JUST to find mistakes. Agreed though excellent game.
People look for easter eggs while playing games. There have been several games that have phone numbers in them that you can call for some bonus entertainment..
People look for easter eggs in games all the time, there are several games that include phone numbers for some extra entertainment. No need to freak out because someone dialed the number more than likely hoping to find an easter egg and found out It was a sex line accidentally put on there.
I don’t think it’s about finding mistakes at all, It’s about all the intricate details of the game that the designers added for players to find in the game that make it all the more interesting. I know I like finding inside jokes, etc. in video games, it adds to the experience. Just my opinion.

ummmmm the area code isn’t 555 its the 800 the 555 is part of the actual number, not saying its fake or anything but in the quote he said area code nd hes wrong. love the game btw :)
I’m guessing they just had a big laugh about it and said oops.
Reminds me of Jessica Rabit’s number in the NES game. It was once a number you would call to hear JR’s voice. Now the number leads to a sex hotline (as found out by AVGN). Pretty funny if you’d ask me.
