‘Modern Warfare 3′ is currently outselling ‘Battlefield 3′ pre-orders by 3:1 and is projected to move nearly 20 million units by year’s end. Pre-orders for Modern Warfare 3 are nearly five times that of its biggest competitor Battlefield 3.
That’s how many copies of its latest Call of Duty game could sell on its first day on sale, according to Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia.
“We expect MW3 to grow 10% versus last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, which has sold through more than 25 million units life-to date,” Bhatia told Industry Gamers.
“We expect 5.5M-6.0M unit sales of MW3 on day 1 and nearly 18M units in the December quarter.”
Modern Warfare 3 is on pace to break its predecessor’s records. Much like Black Ops generated 25 million and blew Modern Warfare 2’s 22 million sales numbers, so do we expect Modern Warfare 3 to do the same to Black Ops.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is out for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, the game might even come out on the Wii U platform.
