Modern Warfare 3 is the most pre-ordered title ever at Amazon. Amazon received 32% more pre-orders for Modern Warfare 3 than for Black Ops, the previous record holder.
GAME spokesperson Anne-Marie Mason told Eurogamer the accolade for the Sledgehammer-Infinity Ward shooter was across GAME and GameStation.
“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is the most popular game for pre-orders that Game and Gamestation have ever seen,” she said.
“Beating records set by last year’s number one game, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is now Game Group’s largest pre-order title in the company’s history.”
In a press release this morning, Amazon UK issued a statement declaring MW3 had overtaken Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 as the most pre-ordered videogame of all-time for the online retailer.
“Modern Warfare 3’ received 32% more pre-orders than last year’s Black Ops,” said Liz Hosmer, game manager at Amazon.co.uk. “The Call of Duty series has performed consistently well with both Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 previously holding the all-time pre-order record.
“This year has seen the release of a raft of great titles with Battlefield 3 anticipated as a strong contender to Modern Warfare 3 but the latest offering in the Call of Duty series is the most popular title of the year to date by some distance.”
