Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has canceled NetherRealm Studios’ fighting game, Mortal Kombat X for PS3 & Xbox 360.
WB revealed the reason for cancellation on WB games community:
“After months of development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has come to the regrettable conclusion that we cannot release Mortal Kombat X for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Please know our teams worked diligently to meet the quality standards set by the current-gen versions of the game.
We were not able to get the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to the quality expected of a Mortal Kombat game and are very sorry for not being able to deliver the products as originally planned.”
The last-gen version was scheduled for April 2015 release alongside PC, PS4 & Xbox One, but PS3 & Xbox 360 were delayed into June 2015 and delayed again into Fall 2015, without a release date.
Since the release, the game became the fastest selling game in the history of the Mortal Kombat series.
