20th Century Fox has pushed the release date of their upcoming American dystopian science-fiction action thriller film, Maze Runner: The Death Cure.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure was originally slated for February 17, 2017 release, it is now set to arrive in January 2018.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure Delayed 1

The delay is due to American actor, Dylan O’Brien‘s suffering multiple non-life threatening injuries on set in March 2016, following the incident the production was shut down.

Filming was intended to resume this month, but looks like O’Brien isn’t full recovered yet, and Fox announced that they shut down the production indefinitely, without a date set for when the filming might resume.

Fox pushed the release date to allow time for Dylan O’Brien to fully recover.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure, directed by Wes Ball, based on The Death Cure, the final book in The Maze Runner trilogy, written by James Dashner, with a screenplay by T.S. Nowlin. It is the sequel to Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials and it is the third and final installment in The Maze Runner film series.

It stars Dylan O’Brien as Thomas, Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Newt, Ki Hong Lee as Minho, Kaya Scodelario as Teresa Agnes, Dexter Darden as Frypan, Jacob Lofland as Aris Jones, Rosa Salazar as Brenda, Giancarlo, Esposito as Jorge, Aidan Gillen as Janson, Patricia Clarkson as Ava Paige, Barry Pepper as Vince, Will Poulter as Gally, Nathalie Emmanuel as Harriet & Katherine McNamara as Sonya.

“In the conclusion to the Maze Runner saga, Thomas and the surviving Gladers prepare to face off against WCKD one last time as they fight to find a cure for the deadly disease known as The Flare that has wiped out much of the civilization all over the world.

Friendships and loyalties will be tested and the fight against WCKD will also determine who will survive at the end and who will not.”

Maze Runner: The Death Cure is set to be released on January 12, 2018.
