Following Ben Affleck’s announcement to step down as director of The Batman; Matt Reeves has committed to direct the film.
Matt Reeves is known for directing Future Shock (1993), Cloverfield (2008), Let Me In (2010), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014), 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) and War for the Planet of the Apes (2017).
The deal isn’t final yet, but Reeves is high on the list to finalize the deal to helm The Batman, according to Variety.
Even though Affleck decided to step down as director, he will still play a significant role in the direction of the film.
The script for the film is still in development and Reeves will surely be part of making some changes if required to the script.
It stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, Jeremy Irons as Alfred and J. K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.

The Batman is on track to begin shooting in spring 2017, an official release date is yet to be announced.
