Konami revealed today during their Pre-E3 press conference that the New Snake/Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid V is Kiefer Sutherland replacing David Hayter.
Kiefer Sutherland is a British-Canadian actor, producer and director best known for his portrayal of Jack Bauer on the Fox series 24. He will be providing the voice and motion capture performance for upcoming action-adventure stealth video game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
“The Phantom Pain is set in 1984, Snake is 49 at the time and Kojima wanted someone who’d be able to match the facial movements and vocal patterns of someone at a similar age, and 46-year-old Sutherland was a perfect fit”, said Hideo Kojima.
He has a “fantastic, rich voice that maintains a level of mystery,” said Avi Arad, a friend of Kojima’s who recommended casting the actor.
“It’s an honor to be able to play this character, this character has an unbelievable legacy. There’s a real personal quality to the character that I’ve connected to.
I’m not a gamer, and I even knew about this game,” said Sutherland.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is an upcoming action-adventure stealth video game developed by Kojima Productions and produced by Hideo Kojima, currently in development for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, without a release date for now.
