“Right down Dwanta Claus lane..Excited to share this great news: CHRISTMAS of 2017 comes early for our #JUMANJI SEQUEL.
We were always slated to be released summer of 2017, but after months of shooting and editing our movie together, we realized we have a big family franchise on our hands, that’s full of Christmas wish fulfillment, fun and heart.
Like so many of us, it’s my FAVORITE time of the year and I LUV delivering holiday entertainment. From MOANA this Thanksgiving, to ROCK THE TROOPS this Christmas, to JUMANJI next Christmas! Calling Rudolph now to get our sleigh and fanny packs.”

The film is based on Chris Van Allsburg’s 1985 children’s book in which a magical board game causes jungle plants and creatures to invade a quiet American suburb. The 1995 original film was directed by Joe Johnston and starred the late Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce, Jonathan Hyde, Bebe Neuwirth, David Alan Grier and Patricia Clarkson.
Jumanji’s cast also includes Nick Jonas, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Alex Wolff and Morgan Turner.
The film is not a reboot but instead is a sequel to the 1995 film that starred Robin Williams as a man who found himself trapped in the titular game as a boy, and is ‘let out’ when a pair of kids decide to roll the dice in present day.
Directed by Jake Kasdan and written by Scott Rosenberg.
Production will be handled by Matt Tolmach, Ted Field & Bill Teitler. Van Allsburg and Mike Weber are set to serve as executive producers.
Jumanji is currently scheduled for December 22, 2017 release.
