American actor and voice artist, J.K. Simmons has been cast to play commissioner James “Jim” Gordon in Justice League, according to THR.
He is known for the television roles of Dr. Emil Skoda on the NBC series Law & Order, neo-Nazi Vernon Schillinger on the HBO prison-drama Oz, and Assistant Police Chief Will Pope on TNT’s The Closer.
The best known film roles include J. Jonah Jameson in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, and music instructor Terence Fletcher in Whiplash (2014). He also voiced Cave Johnson in the 2011 puzzle game Portal 2, Lenny Turteltaub in BoJack Horseman, The Warden in Megamind, Kai in Kung Fu Panda 3, Stanford Pines in Gravity Falls, and Tenzin in The Legend of Korra.
He also reprised his role as J. Jonah Jameson in various Marvel animated series and video games.
The report reveals that Gotham City’s Police Commissioner James Gordon will follow in the footsteps of Pat Hingle from the 1989 – 1997 Batman movies and Gary Oldman (who played the character in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy)
There are no more other details on Gordon yet, but since Ben Affleck’s Batman has spent many years in Gotham, his role was expected in Justice League.
Simmons joins Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Amy Adams, Jason Momoa, and Ray Fisher.
The filming begins in April 2016, it takes place in London and Iceland.
