Microsoft released a teaser trailer for its five part live-action Halo 4 series Forward Unto Dawn.

The series will be out this fall and it is Microsoft’s “largest investment” in live-action ever. The director and cast won’t be revealed until Comic-Con this July, the series will span five weekly installments lasting around 15 minutes each.

Take a look at the teaser after the break:

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn will tell an original story about how Master Chief inspired a young UNSC cadet who eventually becomes a leader on the UNSC Infinity spacecraft. According to Variety, the introduction of the new character will tie in with the plot of Halo 4.

“Microsoft had to make sure that the web series didn’t just appeal to hardcore Halo fans,” said Frank O’Connor, franchise development director at 343 Industries.

“We needed a way to ensure there was a way for people to get onboard this universe without feeling intimidated. [Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is] an origins story that teaches you about a lot of different facets of the universe.”

Matt McCloskey, director of franchise business management at 343 Industries said: “We wanted to do something unique from a narrative standpoint that’s big in scale, and to go way beyond that and transform this live-action exploration from advertising into a full standalone product that people will enjoy.”

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn will be released via Halo Waypoint and Machinima in October leading up to the launch of Halo 4 on November 6.
