Gamescom 2016 will kick off this week & the banners are being placed outside the convention hall with all the latest upcoming titles & one in particular that stood out..that is Half-Life 3.
Don’t get too excited, this isn’t what you think. The banner isn’t for a long awaited sequel Half-Life 3, it wasn’t placed by Valve, it was by German gaming site Spieletipps and GIGA games behind the cruel joke, check out the poster below:
The poster reads “Half-Life: 3 Redakteure, die es damals gespielt haben,” it roughly translates to, “Half-Life: 3 editors who played it back then.” The colon is very important here.
The number 3 refers to the editors, who played Half-Life, so that makes it Half-Life: three editors who played it back then.”
Solid trolling there, no doubt. This banner was apparently paid for/arranged by GIGA games and Spieletipps, two German companies.
This is some excellent trolling by GIGA games and Spieletipps.
Valve’s science fiction first-person shooter, Half-Life released in 1998 by Sierra Studios for Microsoft Windows. It was Valve L.L.C.’s debut product and the first in the Half-Life series.
Players assume the role of Dr. Gordon Freeman, who must fight his way out of a secret research facility after a teleportation experiment goes disastrously wrong, fighting enemies and solving puzzles.
The game sold 9.3 million copies by December 2008. It was ported to the PlayStation 2 in 2001, and OS X and Linux in 2013. It was followed in 2004 by a sequel, Half-Life 2.
Half-Life 2 released on November 16, 2004 for PC, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, OS X and Linux. It sold over 12 million copies.
It was followed up by two additional “expansion” sequels, Half-Life 2: Episode One in 2006 and Half-Life 2: Episode Two in 2007.
We are yet to receive a third entry in the series.
Gamescom 2016 will be held from 18 August to 21 August at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
