Rockstar Games revealed that Grand Theft Auto Online Heists will launch early 2015 featuring 20+ hours of gameplay, new weapons, vehicles and more!
GTA Online four player co-op mode allows “players to plan, prepare and execute multi-tiered Heists across Los Santos and Blaine County.
These will require tight communication and coordination, with players taking on specified roles at each point to accomplish multiple objectives on the way to each Heist’s epic finale.”
The long-awaited feature was expected arrive a lot sooner, but it GTA Online producer Imran Sarwar told IGN “they just turned out to be a lot more difficult than we originally thought.
We never want to have to move a date but if something is delayed, it’s because it’s not at the level we expect of ourselves. And while we’re not there yet, we’re getting close and Heists will be ready early in 2015.”
Sarwar explains the concept: “A series of multi-tiered missions featuring diverse prep work, a range of different types of gameplay and a big finale, where team coordination and playing your own distinct role could make the difference between success or failure.
We also wanted each one to have a unique thread that brought you back in touch with some of the characters from the story.”
“Each heist requires 4 players all at rank 12 or above, with one player as the designated heist leader. Leading a heist requires owning a high-end apartment so that you have a room available to set up the planning board.
From there you’ll be able to launch missions as the leader, starting with the prep work and building up to the score itself.”
GTA Online is split into “five unique strands involving over 20 total missions, which will add up to around 20 hours of gameplay, said Sarwar.
We hope players will then replay them multiple times to take on the other roles and to try different ways of tackling the missions.
We’ve tried to add a lot of variety and there’s a mixture of open-ended gameplay, big set-pieces and a few surprises too.”
Completing all five heists in order with the same set of players, will be rewarded and the players who complete them in first-person mode. You’ll be granted access to Elite Bonus Challenges, which gives out a big cash reward when you complete each part of heist while meeting a certain criteria, like completing in a time limit, damage taken or accuracy.
Grand Theft Auto Online Heists will be available for free on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3 and PC in early 2015.
