Sony has unveiled the first God of War: Ascension gameplay footage and some multiplayer and singleplayer details.
Santa Monica developer confirmed that up to eight players will be competing against each other to take down truly massive bosses for glory and gore, online.
The game will come with the ability to create your own character and select a god to worship: Zeus, Hades, Poseidon or Aries. Each god offers their own set of special abilities that will be passed on to the player as well as armor and weaponry.
As the player levels up, they will be able to unlock new weapons and abilities. It’s your typical multiplayer setup, but the gameplay is inherently God of War.
Alongside the reveal of God of War Ascension’s new multiplayer mode and a video, some interesting details about the single player mode were revealed in yesterday’s developer Live Stream.
The developers at Sony Santa Monica are looking to explore the more human side of Kratos, the time leading up to the events that sent Kratos down the path of becoming The God of War. This human side of Kratos’ life will include exploring the relationships with his family, his ambitions, and his last ties to humanity before the rage filled events of the previous games take place.

God of War: Ascension is an action-adventure game that offers an epic single-player story mode, as well as a deep, innovative multiplayer experience. The title has an ESRB rating of “RP” for Rating Pending.
