Toho Pictures debuted the trailer for their upcoming Japanese science fiction kaiju film, Godzilla Resurgence (AKA Shin Gojira).
It is the 31st film in the Godzilla franchise and the 29th Godzilla film produced by Toho. It is Toho’s first Godzilla film in 12 years since Godzilla: Final Wars (2004).
The film is intended to be Toho’s own reboot of the franchise to rival the success of Legendary’s reboot.
It stars Hiroki Hasegawa, Satomi Ishihara, & Yutaka Takenouchi. The film will feature 328 cameos and supporting appearances, including, Kengo Kora, Ren Osugi, Akira Emoto, Kimiko Yo, Jun Kunimura, Mikako Ichikawa, Pierre Taki, Takumi Saito, Keisuke Koide, Arata Furuta, and Atsuko Maeda.
Directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi with the screenplay written by Anno and the special effects directed by Higuchi.
Godzilla Resurgence is scheduled to be released on July 29, 2016.
