Ubisoft’s upcoming open world tactical shooter, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands received a new trailer at Gamescom 2016.
The trailer shows us how we can customize the character’s appearance and gear, and use the Gunsmith to craft weapons to take on any enemy in any environment:
CUSTOMIZE FROM THE START
From the very beginning of Ghost Recon Wildlands, you’ll be tasked with customizing your very own Ghost with a broad selection of items. There are 12 different elements you can customize on your Ghost, allowing you to select a gender and add everything from hats and glasses to tattoos and specific fabric patterns. There’s a lot of flexibility, so you should have no problem finding a combination that suits your tastes before you head out on your mission to take down the Santa Blanca drug cartel.
Not only will the look of your Ghost change depending on how you dress them, but entirely new details will emerge to compensate for the presence of certain items on your Ghost. For example, wearing a certain kind of hat might not only change your hairstyle, but also the type of radio headset your Ghost wears. The development team wants to make sure that each Ghost still reflects their concept of “blend” – that is, Ghosts will wear authentic military gear, but they also need to wear things that will help them blend in a little better into their surroundings – so there’s always a balance to maintain.
UNLOCK MORE ITEMS
Even though you’ll have plenty of equipment and items from the start, Ghost Recon Wildlands gives you the opportunity to unlock more. Mission rewards, killing high-value targets, and completing other special in-game events can all contribute to your inventory of customization items, enabling you to build a Ghost that reflects the way you play the game.
THERE’S WEAPON CUSTOMIZATION, TOO
You might remember the Gunsmith from a previous Ghost Recon game – it’s coming back in Ghost Recon Wildlands. There are 50 customizable weapons in the game, including assault rifles, sniper rifles, light machine guns, submachine guns, shotguns, and handguns. There are also more than 100 attachments – things like scopes, stocks, barrels, magazines, and more. Some attachments even unlock special functions for your weapon, like firing mode and suppressor function, but the key is to find a combination that works for you.
If you feel like hanging back while your squad infiltrates, then making sure you have the best scope for your sniper rifle should make you more effective. Like to cause some close-range havoc? A combination of an assault rifle and with an under-barrel grenade launcher might be more your style. You can also apply skins (and even repaint and clean your weapon as it gets dirty from use) to individual parts of your weapon to bring an extra level of customization to your weapon of choice.
