2K Games unveiled the first of BioShock Infinite‘s heavy hitting enemies, the new boss you’ll face in the game called the Motorized Patriot.

Irrational Games has taken historical fiction to the next level – a robotic George Washington with a Gatling gun.

Art director Nate Wells said the original concept for the character was a “creepily motorized Hall of Presidents animatronic George Washington”.

Creative director Ken Levine added: “A couple of things make him really special besides the aesthetic of him. One is that, unlike most of the enemies, he’s completely fearless. He doesn’t have a sense of self-preservation so he’ll just keep coming at you and coming at you.”

Motorized Patriot will be part of a wider group of “mini-bosses” you’ll face in the game dubbed Heavy Hitters.

So what exactly is the Motorised Patriot? Think of one of those animatronic hall of Presidents you would typically find in a museum dedicated to the Declaration of Independence. You know, the ones where you press a button and they start speaking to you while moving their arms.

Now imagine that George Washington has a machine gun that is activated by rotating a crank in a sort of pepper mill style, and is able to walk around on his own. Isn’t that just a terrifying image?

I’m sure more of these Heavy Hitters will be around, and one hopes that an equally creepy Abraham Lincoln animatronic puppet will surface and that it is just that this Hall of Presidents was designed by a madman!

BioShock Infinite releases on October 16 in the US and October 19 in Europe for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
