“‘Moose Finbar’ (Kevin Hart). ‘Ruby Roundhouse’ (Karen Gillan. Her jungle wardrobe will make sense when you know the plot. Trust me;). ‘Professor Shelly Oberon’ (Jack Black). ‘Dr. Smolder Bravestone’ ’cause well.. he smolders.

Hard workin’ and FUN first day of shooting in the jungle with this talented and crazy motley crew. Jack is brilliant, Karen is bad assery, Kevin is sharply hilarious and I smell good. Extremely hard trying to keep a straight face in these scenes. Too funny. We’re makin’ a good one. More to come..”, reads the caption on Johnson’s Instagram.

Jumanji is based on Chris Van Allsburg’s 1985 children’s book in which a magical board game causes jungle plants and creatures to invade a quiet American suburb. The 1995 original film was directed by Joe Johnston and starred the late Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce, Jonathan Hyde, Bebe Neuwirth, David Alan Grier and Patricia Clarkson.

The film is not a reboot but instead is a sequel to the 1995 film that starred Robin Williams as a man who found himself trapped in the titular game as a boy, and is ‘let out’ when a pair of kids decide to roll the dice in present day.

Directed by Jake Kasdan.

Production will be handled by Matt Tolmach, Ted Field & Bill Teitler. Van Allsburg and Mike Weber are set to serve as executive producers.

Jumanji sequel is currently scheduled for July 28, 2017 release.
