If you played either of the previous Far Cry games you will remember them for having vast open environments for you to explore. And Ubisoft’s said that Far Cry 3 will have much bigger environments compared to previous games in the series.

Narrative director Jason Vandenberghe told to Edge that Far Cry 3 will have a considerably larger scale in its environments compared to the previous games in the franchise. Considering that the map of Far Cry 2 is huge for an FPS at least, multiplying it by ten seams like overkill, but this time the developers will make sure you find something interesting around every corner.

“If you look at the vistas and the scale of Far Cry 1 and 2, take that and multiply it by ten,”

“We want to take that even further. We’re focusing on taking that scale and making it dense, so that around every corner there’s something to find or see.”

“That’s a key in open-world experiences. We ask ourselves: if there wasn’t anyone to shoot in the game, could it still be fun?”

“I want to present the player with intense situations, and then I don’t even want to watch what you do. That’s not the designer’s business.”

Ubisoft Montreal says it can “definitely” replicate the stunning Far Cry 3 experience shown running on PC at E3 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Far Cry 3 is slated for release on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 this year.
