Canadian actress Evangeline Lilly has revealed when her Hope van Dyne’s Wasp will join the Avengers in a new interview.
Speaking with Blastr, Lilly was asked to talk about the progress of her upcoming movies in Marvel Universe:
“Right now an initial script has been created but it has not been approved by the higher powers that be, by the Feiges.
So I haven’t seen it yet but I have talked to Peyton (Reed) about where they’re headed and what they want to focus on.
I’m excited because it’s essentially going to be the origin of the Wasp. We’re going to see the Wasp for the first time take on the mantle, and put on the suit, and fly about, and do her thing.
Following that one, there’s an Avengers series coming out that’s a two-parter and the Wasp won’t be in the first part, she’ll be in the second part because they really want to preserve that reveal for Ant-Man and the Wasp so that they can give it its due time.”
Evangeline Lilly made her debut in Marvel Universe as Hope van Dyne in Ant-Man (2015) and she will finally get to suit up as Wasp in the 2018 sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp.
According to her, Ant-Man and the Wasp will serve as an origin story for Hope as the Wasp, where she’ll suit up for the first time on screen.
Principal photography for both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 is set to begin in November 2016, lasting until June 2017 at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayette County, Georgia with Trent Opaloch serving as director of photography.
Ant-Man and the Wasp will be directed by Peyton Reed, the script is being written by Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari.
Filming for the sequel is set to begin in Atlanta next year.
The film will see the return of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang alongside Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne with Michael Douglas expected to reprise the role of Hank Pym.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is set for July 6, 2018 release.
