The first Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Review scores are now live.

Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which will hit the stores worldwide tomorrow, lifted to reveal the true extent of the wonderful game that awaits. The reviews round-up shows that this game is amazingly “outstanding” and it’s going to take a while until we will witness the launch of a better game.

Let’s see what the rest of the gaming world is saying about Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Review 2

1UPA- – Despite a few hiccups, the latest Elder Scrolls is as engrossing as it is vast.

Digital Chumps10/10 – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is breathtaking, engrossing and deep. With gameplay and visual improvements, Bethesda set a new standard in The Elder Scrolls series with Skyrim, and with the action/RPG genre. This most certainly should be the game of the year.

Destructoid10/10 – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is every single reason to love a Western role-playing game, condensed into a single comprehensive experience with nothing lost in the conversion process. It is a game that will drown those who step into its absorbing, overwhelmingly detailed world, a game that will bury you and refuse to let go.

Eurogamer10/10 – It evokes a word that’s overused in reviewing of all kinds: one that’s best kept in the cellar in a plainly marked box and reserved only for the most special of occasions. For Skyrim though, I’d like to blow the dust off it, open up the lid, and enjoy a masterpiece with you.

OXM UK10/10 – Skyrim may frustrate you at times, but it will work its way inside your skin and replace the marrow of your bones. It never gives you an opportunity to neatly stop playing. Even if you manage to tear yourself away, the locations and the people will rattle around in your head. It’ll give you stories to tell your friends, (although you should remember that many people simply won’t be interested), and it’ll give you an entire region to bend, beautifully slowly, to your will. See you in Spring.

Team Xbox9.8/10 – This is easily one of the best RPGs to come out in this generation of consoles. You must own this game.

Planet Xbox 3609.7/10 – Even if this is one of the nerdiest games to ever be released, it is also one of the best.

CVG : 9.5/10 –  This is not the next evolutionary stage of the series: rather a loving refinement of what made Oblivion and the now-aged PC title Morrowind so special. “It’s those games with better voice acting, a slicker interface, a richer world and an improved story. It’s also the most polished and user friendly games in the series, with smarter character progression and a gentler learning curve.

Strategy Informer9.5/10 – People commented on how much of a cop out the main quest in Oblivion was towards the end, and whilst that’s rectified in Skyrim, it honestly doesn’t matter – there’s so many other threads, both big and small, to pull you along, you’ll never want for something to do. We can honestly think of no better game to while away your Christmas vacation.

IGN9.5 – Playing Skyrim is a rare kind of intensely personal, deeply rewarding experience, and one of the best role-playing games yet produced

Game Informer9.5/10 – Skyrim ruled my life for two straight weeks, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes a fixture in my gaming rotation for the remainder of the year. It’s one of the biggest, most content rich games I’ve had the pleasure of playing.

GameTrailers9.3/10 – Skyrim is extremely ambitious, and at its core, extremely successful. While overreaches in certain areas, it has much to offer in terms of freedom and volume of content. When you look back on the experience, it’s not the rough spots that’ll stand out, but the broad, heroic feeling of being the powerful and change-affecting center of a richly constructed world.

Edge9/10 – A world of ice and fire that delivers more than most games even attempt

GameSpot9/10 – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the big, bold, and beautiful sequel you hoped for and is sure to bewitch you for countless hours.

SFX : 5/5 – It tops Tolkien for vision; Dungeons and Dragons for variety; Snyder for spectacle and almost every other game for sheer quality. Finish Batman: Arkham City quick, because once Skyrim begins you’re not playing anything else for months.

GiantBomb5/5 – Bethesda’s latest, seemingly endless fantasy role-playing experience is unmissable, technical flaws be damned.

Joystiq5/5 – This is the deepest, lovliest world ever created for a single player to explore, and one that no one should deny themselves. This is a game about following Emerson’s advice, leaving the trail and finding that the most powerful force on Earth or Tamriel isn’t fire or sword, but the ever-insistent desire to know what lies beyond.

RPG Gamer4.5/5 – Skyrim is one of the finest embodiments of an open world RPG, as there is never a dearth of places to go or quests to complete. What Skyrim lacks in tough role-playing choices, it more than compensates for with interesting things to do.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the next chapter in the critically acclaimed Elder Scrolls franchise from Bethesda Game Studios.  Battle the awakened dragons of Skyrim beginning on November 11th, 2011 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
