Square Enix’s Canadian video game development studio, Eidos Montreal is reportedly working on a Guardians of the Galaxy video game.
Last week, Marvel Entertainment and Square Enix made their partnership public to create multi-games based on Marvel Super Heroes, starting off with Avengers.
And now in a report from Eurogamer, Eidos is already working a new game and it will be based on the tenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Guardians of the Galaxy.
The game is in early stages of development and we won’t hear about it until maybe 2018, we will keep you posted.
Unlike The Avengers Project, Eidos is leading the development on this game.
Eidos Montreal’s untitled Guardians of the Galaxy game will be entirely different from what Telltale Games is working on.
The Guardians of the Galaxy are a fictional spacefaring superhero team that appear in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning formed the team from existing and previously unrelated characters created by a variety of writers and artists, with an initial roster of Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Quasar, Adam Warlock, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, and Groot.
These Guardians first appeared in “Annihilation: Conquest” #6 (April 2008). A feature film based on this team was released in 2014.
A sequel, titled Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, is scheduled to be released in 2017. This Guardians team is the second to operate under the name, following the original team created by Arnold Drake and Gene Colan in 1969.
