Techland has lowered the frames-per-second for their upcoming first-person open world, action survival horror, Dying Light on PlayStation 4 from 60fps to 30fps, according to Maciej Binkowski.
The action survival horror’s lead game designer, Maciej Binkowski was asked on Ask.fm regarding the resolution on PS4, he said the team is now targeting 1080p/30fps.
A Techland rep issued the following statement to Gamespot: “1080p/30 fps is what we have right now, it is what is constant, and what we’re sure we can deliver in the final product.
But the work is still ongoing, and even though we have no more than two weeks left, things can still change.
So even though the answer is accurate I would change the question–it’s not what we target, it is what we will deliver 100 percent.”
When asked if the game will run 1080p/30fps on both PS4 and Xbox One, The rep replied, “It’s too early to tell, but we’re trying to squeeze as much as we can from both consoles. Please stay tuned.”
Update: Techland explains the reason behind frame rate drop on consoles, read the complete statement here.
Dying Light will be released on January 27 in US, January 28 in Australia and New Zealand, and January 30, 2015 in Europe and Asia for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
