The production on Sony Pictures’ Jumanji continues in Hawaii & Dwayne Johnson gives us the first glimpse at Dr. Smolder Bravestone’s Flamethrower in a new set video.
“Our bad ass Jumanji FX team custom built my flamethrower so it attaches to my arm for tonight’s big action sequences.
I steer my motorcycle with one hand and become the King of Fire with the other. Already singed the hair off my arm, so we’re off to a great start,” said Dwayne Johnson.
The film is based on Chris Van Allsburg’s 1985 children’s book in which a magical board game causes jungle plants and creatures to invade a quiet American suburb. The 1995 original film was directed by Joe Johnston and starred the late Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce, Jonathan Hyde, Bebe Neuwirth, David Alan Grier and Patricia Clarkson.
Jumanji‘s cast also includes Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Alex Wolff and Morgan Turner.
The film is not a reboot but instead is a sequel to the 1995 film that starred Robin Williams as a man who found himself trapped in the titular game as a boy, and is ‘let out’ when a pair of kids decide to roll the dice in present day.
Directed by Jake Kasdan and written by Scott Rosenberg.
Production will be handled by Matt Tolmach, Ted Field & Bill Teitler. Van Allsburg and Mike Weber are set to serve as executive producers.
Jumanji is currently scheduled for December 22, 2017 release.
