Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that they will continue Harry Potter film series‘ tradition of releasing a movie inspired by J. K. Rowling’s book every two years.
The sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is yet to hit the theaters – is scheduled to release in November 2018.
Look like David Yates will continue to work on movies inspired by Rowling’s books for couple more years.
He directed final four films in the Harry Potter film series: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010), and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011).
Yates, who directed the first film in Fantastic Beasts trilogy will return to direct Fantastic Beasts sequel and J.K. Rowling has already finished the script for the sequel.
“We’ve seen the script for Part 2, for the second movie, which takes the story in a whole new direction – as you should, you don’t want to repeat yourself.
The second movie introduces new characters as she builds this part of the Harry Potter universe further. It’s a very interesting development from where we start out. The work is pouring out of her,” he told EW.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Samantha Morton, Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell, Faith Wood-Blagrove, Jenn Murray, Jon Voight, Ron Perlman, Elizabeth Moynihan, Christine Marzano, Denis Khoroshko, Gemma Chan, Carmen Ejogo.
The film opens in “1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures.
Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.”
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is scheduled to be released on 18 November, 2016 in 3D and IMAX 4K Laser format.
Fantastic Beasts 2 is set to be released on 16 November 2018, followed by the third installment on 20 November 2020.
